I heart Jeff Bezos
Guess what came in the mail yesterday? I’ll give you a hint. It DID NOT come from Best Buy [because Best Buy sucks. It did, however, make me want to get down on my hands and knees and kiss the shoes Jeff Bezos wears. [I hope he wears nice leather shoes and not some stinky running shoe because I'm kind of picky about what I'll let my lips touch.]
My Nikon D40 arrived.
I’ll just give you a moment to gasp and ooh and aaah.
Ok, that’s enough.
UPS called on Thursday to tell Lee they were bringing my camera on Friday and somebody needed to sign for it. I told Lee, “You are not leaving the house at all tomorrow. You will be sitting by the front door all day long until the UPS guy brings my camera.” Lee, however, was not quite as excited about the delivery. He said, “Yeah, whatever. I can and will be leaving the house tomorrow.” Why did I marry such a smart ass?
Just to be safe I decided to work from home.
I usually work at my desk in the basement. But that’s about as far away from the front door as you can get. So I spent the whole day working at the kitchen table. I had a call at 1pm so I had to move down to my desk to use my speaker phone and to get away from the noise of the kids.
My call lasted over and hour. Still no camera. So I folded some laundry. Still no camera.
Just as I was finishing up in the laundry room, Lee peeked in. I said, “I’m about to have a heart attack. Why haven’t they delivered my camera yet?”
Lee got a cheesy grin on his face.
“What?!?” I asked. “Did they already deliver it?
“Maybe.”
“Oh for the love of all things holy. You better tell me right now.”
“Maybe they did. Maybe they didn’t.”
I sprinted up the stairs and looked around the living room and the kitchen. Where is the box? Then I spotted it. On a chair. Tucked under the table. That bastard was trying to hide it from me. No time to yell at him though. I ripped open the box and touched my glorious camera for the very first time.
But wait. My memory card didn’t come yet. We had dinner with Lee’s family last night so on the way to the restaurant we stopped at Wal-Mart to get a cheap memory card. Which explains why this is the very first picture I took with my new camera.
I took this as we were driving down the road. Just look at the clarity and the color. [And all the dust on my dashboard.]
When we got home Lee wanted to see my pictures. He wanted to see how spectacular these photos were. He figured for $600 the photos should sing or something. He said, “Yeah, they look nice. I’m not sure they’re $600 nice, but whatever.”
But then today we took the kids to the beach [and I use that term loosely since we are landlocked here in the Heartland]. Lee took some pictures with my camera. And then the heavens opened up and shone down upon him and he understood. All was right with the world. [He may have a slightly different version of this story, but I'm sticking with my version.]
Just for fun here’s another picture from our day at the beach. We took two pedal boats out on the lake and made a stop off at the swinging bench thing. This photo was taken just after Caleb fell out of his pedal boat when he tried to climb in to my boat. Good thing he had a life jacket on.
This also explains why my shirt was all wet in the picture above. I had to pull him out of the lake.
I’m thinking every single post from now on will have a photo taken with my new camera. Did I mention I got a new camera? Hey, I got a new camera.

OY! I am so jealous!! Have fun taking lots of pictures
